Help Cityfarm Grow

"I thought forests were just in fairy tale books"

(Mona, 6 1/2 year Cityfarmer)

In 2010, more than 500 school children enjoyed tomatoes in April; harvested from their indoor vegetable gardens. Some of these young gardeners inspired adults to start a community garden! And our dream for Cityfarm Adventure site in Edmonton neighborhoods is another step closer to reality.

It is with the generous support of our community that 19 schools and after school agencies and more than 60 community garden projects provide opportunities for children, youth and the young at heart in ‘shared’ gardening and growing experiences.

Nearly 50% of Cityfarm funding comes from individuals and family donors. Like you, they recognize the importance of Cityfarm and the benefits from “connected communities, experiencing nature, and growing food”. With your support, Cityfarm will continue to provide youngsters like Mona a life-changing experience with the chickens, in the orchard, and yes, in the forest too!

Your generosity creates these possibilities:

"Play in nature, particularly during the critical period of middle childhood, appears to be an especially important time for developing the capacities for creativity, problem-solving, and emotional and intellectual development."
